PARIS – Linda Nolton, a law enforcement teacher at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, joined Rotarians for their June 18th breakfast and spoke about the SkillsUSA- VICA program. Five Oxford Hills students won first places in the Maine Skills USA-VICA championships, and earned the right to compete at the national championships in Kansas City being held through June 27. The Oxford Hills Rotary Club is a sponsor.
Winners are: Abe Hazlett of Oxford, gold medal for 3D visual and animation, Travis Curran of Waterford, gold medal for visual and animation; Erik Stephens of Oxford, gold medal for auto collision repair; Zack Robitaille of Norway, gold medal for technical related math and Joanna DeBie of Harrison, elected state officer.
Society program
OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the Kay House, 73 Pleasant St. The program will be on Reid’s Service Center by Anita Patenaude. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.

FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Historical Society at 96 Main St. will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday,July 2, at the American Legion Hall on Bradley Street. Robert Crowley will present a program on “Birdwatching.”

4-H scholarship
PARIS – The Oxford County 4-H program will be setting up a special Evelyn Mason Camping Scholarship fund in memory of the long-time volunteer.
Anyone interested in donating to this fund can make checks payable to the Oxford County Leader’s Association and send it to the Extension Office at 9 Olson Road, South Paris, ME 04281.
Each year the Oxford County Leader’s Association will award an Evelyn Mason Camping Scholarship to a 4-H member in Oxford County.
Help for farmers
OXFORD – Oxford County farmers are eligible to apply for financial assistance at the Farm Service Agency for crop losses caused by adverse weather conditions during the 2001 or 2002 growing seasons.

Training session
PARIS – Janel Danforth, Sexual Assault Response Team coordinator for the Rape Education and Crisis Hotline, attended a recent training conference in New Orleans. Danforth joined the staff at REACH in June 2001.
She has been working on developing and promoting working relationships with members of the Sexual Assault Response Team. For more information about the program, call 743-9777.
