SANDY RIVER PLANTATION – Sandy River residents will be confronted with a $7,800 increase in county taxes at the annual town meeting Friday.

Last year Sandy River residents paid $37,323 toward their taxes, but this year they will pay $45,072, according to First Assessor Evelyn Wing.

Wing also predicts that the Rangeley Public Library will cause some discussion.

Because of an addition made to the building last year, residents will be asked to pay $6,000. This is a $1,300 increase over last year’s cost of $4,700.

Public Library Treasurer Larry Hall will speak to residents Friday evening to explain how the library’s new addition has increased the amount taxpayers will be asked to contribute to the library budget.

Wing said she believes that once the meeting gets past these two issues, the remaining 56 articles on the warrant will pass quickly.
