LEWISTON – Lewiston High School senior Joseph Poirier was named the winner of the SCORE business plan project in teacher Wendy Russell’s Entrepreneurship class.

With competition co-sponsored by the local SCORE chapter and the U.S. Small Business Administration, Poirier’s plan was judged best of those submitted by the business class members and he was awarded a $100 U.S. Savings Bond from Ralph Tuttle, SCORE chapter chairman.

The class worked on the business plan project for several months, and visited the SBA Business Information Center at the CareerCenter for part of their research. Completed entries were submitted to Bonnie Erickson, area SBA business development specialist, and then judged by a panel consisting of SCORE representatives Maurice Ouellette and Ralph Tuttle, Androscoggin Bank senior loan officer Paul Anderson, AVCOG business counselor Greg Gould and SBA loan officer Helen Brimigion.

The award presentation was held with the class at LHS. In attendance for the event and presenting achievement certificates from the SBA were Jeff Butland, New England Regional Administrator, and Mary McAleney, Maine District Director.
