WATERVILLE – Peggy Willihan of Carrabassett Valley has been named director of development at Thomas College. She will focus on advancing the college through corporate and philanthropic fund raising, grant writing and business partnership efforts.

Prior to her position at Thomas, Willihan was the associate director of marketing and development at Carrabassett Valley Academy, an internationally known boarding school located adjacent to Sugarloaf USA. Academy alumni include former winter Olympics athletes and current members of the U.S. Ski Team. Before serving at Carrabasset Valley Academy, Willihan served as director of development at the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School of Rockland.

A native of Waterville, Willihan possesses a varied background of professional development experience and community involvement. A member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, she is also a Blackbaud Raisers Edge Consultant and has, for two years, served as the co-chair of the Comprehensive Planning Committee in Carrabassett Valley.

Willihan also serves as the chair of the Public Relations and Integrated Marketing Subcommittee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Conference Planning Committee of the AFP New England 2003 Annual Conference and Philanthropy Day Awards.
