OXFORD – Stephanie Bowie certainly made it worth her while Wednesday night.

The Mechanic Falls driver claimed wins in the Ladies’ Feature as well as the final Outlaw Feature of the evening as the Big Apple Summer Racing Series continued at Oxford Plains Speedway. Her Outlaw win was against the best drivers in the division.

Ed Prevost also repeated with a win in the Sport Truck Division.

The Ladies Feature proved that the cream always rises to the top as Bowie and Tina Follett finished 1-2 for the second consecutive week. As the top finishers last week, the pair started this race at the back of the field.

Sue Veinott started on the outside of the front row and held the lead for the first dozen laps.

Bowie had been working her way up through the field, moving into second on lap nine and, after challenging Veinott twice, took the lead on lap 13.

Deb Martin was third.

Rick Stone, Dave Brannon, Randy Robitalle, and Bowie won the Outlaw features.

Stone led his 20-Lap feature from start to finish after starting on the outside of the front row. His biggest challenge came on the Lap 14 restart when Roy Foster took the green flag even with Stone.

Scott Buffington started in the ninth slot and had moved into the top three by mid-race. He held second place in the later laps but was edged out by Steve Moon.

Scott Ellis finished fourth.

Brannon was another winner that made it look all too easy. The No. 14 car started on the pole and never trailed, winning by a large margin.

Josh Paradis ran the first two laps in third place, then moved up to second where he would stay the rest of the way.

Ron Abbott, Jr, who traded spots with Paradis on Lap 3, finished in third.

Robitalle took the lead from Gerard Cote on the backstretch on Lap seven and aside from a restart challenge on Lap 12, cruised to his feature win.

Robitalle started in the last spot on the grid.

It was Steve Brill who took the green flag on the restart and went neck and neck with Robitalle for most of the lap before Robitalle pulled away. Brill ended up second and Gerard Cote was third.

Bowie, who finished third in last week’s Outlaw attempt was opportunistic this week.

After starting in the middle of the field, Bowie found herself in the second place by Lap 16. Then lightning struck.

A spin brought out the yellow and Bowie emerged from the smoke with the lead.

Dale Reno challenged Bowie on the restart but she held him off.

Perley Childs, Bob Guptil, Larry Pulsifer, and Erwin Carey all took the checkered flag in the Runnin’ Rebel features.

At first glance it looked as though “Jungle” Jim May had earned his first Runnin’ Rebel win with a dominating performance in his 20-Lap feature. May led all but the first lap and had a comfortable margin over the No. 5 car of Percy Childs. In the end though, Childs was credited with the win.

Troy Jordan started toward the back of the field but ran strong to a third place finish. Charlie Webster was fourth.

Winslow made it seem easy, starting in the front row, powering his Volkswagen Jetta into leading every lapbut in the end was DQ’ed. His front row mate, Bob Guptil, fell off the pace early but by Lap three had taken over second. A position he would hold for the rest of the feature earning himself a win in the race.

Mike Ward finished third with Matt Dufault fourth.

Pulsifer, starting in the third row in his feature, patiently worked his way to the front. He cracked the top three on Lap 2 and second placed on Lap 7.

Nick Harrington, starting just ahead of Pulsifer, led every lap until overtaken by the No. 98 car. Pulsifer edged by Harrington on the outside of the front stretch.

Tyson Jordan, Ian Roberts, and Don Smith finished third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.

Carey gained thirteen spots in eight laps to find himself in second place behind the No. 66 car of Leo Auger.

Carey spent little time playing second fiddle, taking the lead on the next lap andnever looking back.

Jim Hart ended up third.

Rick Doak walked away from his No. 2 after rolling it three times. Doak ran out of room in turn four after being forced to the outside.

Prevost was forced to defend his lead on a Lap 16 restart as he repeated as the winner of the Sport Truck Feature. Prevost had built a comfortable lead over Chris Martin before the yellow flag brought the field together.

Martin briefly challenged on the restart but soon spun out in turns one and two.

Prevost came from the last row to take the lead on Lap 11. Martin had held the top spot from the beginning with the exception of one lap to Doug Cutler.

Dave Sullivan ended up second, and Jeremy Goss third.
