Dear Sun Spots: I thought your readers would be interested in a sequel to my letter in April requesting wringer washing machines.

My husband and I had about 12 calls from readers of Sun Spots who had wringer washers. We ended up with two Maytags, one Speed Queen and one Kenmore. Needless to say, our need was amply met.

Since then, some friends of ours who are going to Africa as missionaries for six years were looking for a water-efficient laundry device that was not cost-prohibitive. We were able to supply them with one of our Maytags, which they were delighted with. Who would have guessed that Sun Spots would be instrumental in getting a wringer washer for some missionaries to take to Africa?

Thank you to all who responded, and may God bless you for your kindness. – Ingrid Twitchell, Bryant Pond.

Answer:

Dear Sun Spots: Is there anyone out there who has an upright, adult four-drawer dovetail bureau they don’t want or would like to get rid of? Dear Sun Spots: We recently remodeled our bathroom, and I have a shelf that I put miniature doll furniture on, an old-fashioned bath tub, a brass full-length mirror and washstand with bowl. I still need an old-fashioned toilet about ½ to 2-inches wide. I have been to the Standish, Portland and Lewiston-Auburn area, and on the Internet trying to find such a thing. The pieces I have I bought when my daughter was a child. Can you please help me to find a store that sells such things? Thanks. – D. W., Sabattus.
