1918 – 2003

LEWISTON – Carol Louise Brochu, 84, a resident of Pierce Street where she recently moved, died suddenly July 4 at Central Maine Medical Center, where she was a patient.

She was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Southbridge, Mass., the daughter of Albert & Florence Potter Morton. She was a graduate of the Class of 1936 of Sumner High School in Holbrook, Mass. Carol married Emile Brochu of Boston on Dec. 6, 1941, in Boston. They made their residence in Holbrook and Brockton, Mass., before moving to the North End in Boston until 1981, when they moved to Pleasant Street, Livermore Falls, to take care of his parents. Her husband Emile died 1999.

She was employed for twelve years in the housekeeping deptartment of Massaschusetts General Hospital in Boston until she retired in 1980. She is survived by her son, Andre Brochu and his companion Enid Riemenschneider of Malmo, Sweden; a grandson, Marcel Gustafsson of Uppsala, Sweden; two brothers, Philip Morton of Richmond, Tex., and Stanley Morton of Dedham, Mass.; three sisters, Sylvia Barret of Randolph, Mass., Carolyn Brown of Delta, British Columbia, and Esther Castano of Horseheads, N.Y. She was predeceased by her sisters Anna Morton and Nellie Lwons.
