Town Manager Richard Davis said the tax rate is not yet ready to be set.

FARMINGTON – Selectmen will hear the options on setting the tax rate Tuesday as well as the required location of the treated wastewater outlet.

The latter could mean a cost of $275,000 to relocate where the sewer treatment plant discharges treated wastewater into the Sandy River.

A public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building on three applications for special amusement permits at the Granary Brew Pub, the Dugout Bar & Grill and the Homestead Bakery Restaurant.

Town Manager Richard Davis said the tax rate is not yet ready to be set. If selectmen want to keep the tax rate the same as last year, he said, a large amount of money coming out of the undesignated fund would be required. The tax rate was $17.85 per $1,000 of property valuation. Though the municipal budget was down, he said, estimated nontaxable revenues were down slightly and county and SAD 9 budgets were up.

Voters authorized selectmen to take $200,000 out of undesignated surplus, Davis said, but more might be needed if the town wants to keep the tax rate the same.

Selectmen will also discuss relocating the wastewater treatment plant outlet. The course of the Sandy River has changed and Temple Stream now flows into the river in a different place, offsetting discharge calculations.
