BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Celtics signed first-round draft picks Marcus Banks and Kendrick Perkins on Thursday.

Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Banks, a guard, and Perkins, a center, were acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies in a draft-day trade for Boston College’s Troy Bell and Duke’s Dahntay Jones. Boston selected Bell 16th overall and Jones 20th.

The 6-foot-2 Banks, the 13th pick out of UNLV, averaged 20.3 points and 5.5 steals in 32 games as a senior. Celtics coach Jim O’Brien said Banks will be given the chance to open the season as Boston’s starting point guard.

The 6-foot-10, 280-pound Perkins, drafted 27th out of Clifton J. Ozen High School in Beaumont, Texas, averaged 27.5 points and 16.4 rebounds his senior season.

He is the Celtics’ first pick out of the high school ranks.
