POLAND – Dave Roberge and Dave Lutz pitched out of jams in the fourth and sixth innings to assist New Auburn Legion in holding onto a 5-3 win over Poland in baseball action Thursday evening.
Nate Olson launched a home run in the first inning to give Poland an early lead which held until the fifth inning.
Jay Verrill led off the New Auburn fifth with a double, and two batters later, Nick Lawler cracked another to send Verrill scampering across the plate with the tying run. Derek Miller followed with a single to plate Lawlor, before being pushed around the bases on a pair of singles from Craig Leclair and Greg Hird.
Each team traded a run in the sixth and seventh inning to keep the margin at two.
Poland left the bases loaded in the fourth, while stranding baserunners at second and third in the sixth inning.
Andy Valley 12, Gayton 3
LEWISTON – Andy Valley exploded for eight runs in the second inning to recover a two-run first inning deficit and sail comfortably to a 12-3 win over Gayton in Legion baseball action Thursday.
Mike Leclair crushed a triple in the home half of the first inning to drive in three runs and give Gayton a short-lived 3-1 lead.
Ryan Ouellette had the only Andy Valley extra base hit with a double, while Zach Charles contributed a pair of singles for two RBIs. Andy Valley out hit Gayton 8-to-6 while matching each other with an error apiece.
