JAY – A superintendent’s search committee will conduct interviews this week with six candidates vying for the leadership position.

School Committee Chairman Jim Durrell said there is a “pretty good” cross section of people on the committee that will be involved in interviewing the candidates. Rob Taylor, Scott Shink, Tina Collins, Town Manager Ruth Marden, Deb Holland and all five members of the School Committee are on the committee, which will act in an advisory capacity. After each interview the committee will sit down as a group to discuss each candidate, Durrell said. The group has a list of prepared questions that involve school, town and experience.

Interviews will begin at 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Middle School cafeteria.

Durrell said they hope to narrow down the field and will conduct second interviews with selected applicants.

Eleven applications were initially submitted but one was late, so only 10 were considered for interviews, Durrell said.

“We would expect the process would be done within a month, if not sooner,” Durrell said.
