LEWISTON – The Lewiston Elk Lodge 371 has donated $500 to the L and A Veterans Council to be used toward the purchase of a monument in the Veterans Memorial Park.

Chris Gendron, exalted ruler, Lewiston Elk Lodge 371, and Elmer Berry, trustee chairman and second vice president, Maine State Elks, made the presentation to Armand Bussiere, chairman of fund-raising for the council.

The monument will be 7 to 10 feet tall with a statue of a veteran from all five branches of the military service. It will be dedicated in honor of veterans.

Business, corporation, veterans, fraternal organization and individual are encouraged to donate. Any who donate $500 or more will have their names listed on the monument.
