OXFORD – People attending Sunday’s annual Show, Shine & Drag event at Oxford Plains Speedway will notice a new attraction, here for the first time in Maine.

It’s the Monroe Ride Safe Tour, a fully interactive vehicle safety demonstration. It includes one of the world’s only full-size vehicle rollover simulators, according to its promoters, Monroe Shocks & Struts.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., drivers of all ages will be able to sit at high-tech electronic driving simulators to experience the shake and vibration of worn parts, compared to the smooth ride of good parts.

They can also see a rollover simulation, which dramatically shows what happens to passengers in a full-size care during a rollover accident when they wear – and don’t wear – their seat belts.

People can also enter “car knowledge kiosks” and receive personalized safety and maintenance schedules specific to their vehicle.

Housed in a tractor trailer, the tour will visit approximately 150 sites in the United States this year.
