JAY – A Dryden man was arrested after a woman alleged that he assaulted her in Jay, and she was taken to a hospital to be treated. Police also arrested a Jay woman in a separate incident involving a relative.

Jay police Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said he arrested Jeffrey Farrington, 32, of Dryden on Sunday after he responded to a report that a female had been assaulted between 1 and 4 a.m. at a home on Route 156 in Jay. The complaint came in through Wilton, he said. The victim had bruises and was taken to a Farmington hospital to have her injuries checked, and then was released, Fournier said.

Farrington was taken to Franklin County Jail and posted $200 cash bail Sunday for his release. He is scheduled to appear Aug. 28 at Farmington District Court.

Fournier also summoned Farrington on charges of criminal mischief due to alleged damage to the woman’s vehicle, the officer said.

In an incident the evening of Monday, July 7, Fournier said he arrested Andrea Birmingham, 25, of Jay on burglary charges for going to a Ludden Drive home where a relative lives. She posted $500 cash bail July 8 and has a court date of Aug. 28 in Farmington.
