Small ball pays off as New Auburn Post 153 tries to position itself for a post-season run.
TURNER – Justin Ciszewski reached base on an infield hit, advanced to second on a Craig Cormier bunt and scored on a Jay Verrill single for the only run of the game as New Auburn bested Andy Valley 1-0 in ten innings Tuesday.
New Auburn’s Joey Dumont and Andy Valley’s Josh Armandi eached pitched complete games and both defenses held tough.
The teams combined for just 11 hits and three errors in the ten innings.
New Auburn improves to 7-10, while Andy Valley drops to 8-9.
Cole Farms 8, Poland 2
GRAY – Johnny Aceto pitched a strong game to lead Cole Farms to an 8-2 win over Poland in American Legion Baseball action Tuesday night.
Aceto pitched a no-hitter through five innings, retiring 14 batters in a row.
He lost his no-hit bid in the bottom of the sixth inning and finished with a two-hitter as Poland’s Nick Colby and Jeremy Callahan both singled.
Eric Morrison went 3-for-3 with one RBI in the Cole Farms victory.
Locke Mills 10, Gayton 6
LEWISTON – Quin McAllister hit a three-run triple in the seventh inning as Locke Mills defeated Gayton Post 10-6 in Legion Ball action Tuesday.
McAllister ended the contest at 3-4, recording five RBIs on the game.
Nate Olson doubled as well for Locke Mills win.
Ryan Turgeon led the Gayton (6-11) offense with a two-run homer in the seventh inning, while Tyler Turgeon hit a double for the losing cause.
Midcoast 4
Bessey Motors 1
BATH – Mark Rogers tripled in the first inning and hit an RBI single in the third to lead Midcoast to a 4-1 win over Bessey Motors Tuesday evening.
Bessey (12-5) pitcher Garrett Olson walked four batters in a row to force in a run in the fifth inning to help with the Midcoast win.
Pitcher Dustin Zubrod gave up only two hits, struck out nine batters, and walked none.
