AUBURN – Festival Fridays will continue at 7 p.m. Friday, July 18, with the Sean Mencher Swing Combo appearing in Festival Plaza. The free concert will feature a swinging assortment of original songs blended with American standards and classics.
“Sean Mencher blends the best of traditional American music including rock n’ roll, western swing, bluegrass, jazz and blues, which keeps fans dancin’ and twirlin’ till “the break of day,” said Laurie Smith, Auburn’s community relation manager.
Sean Mencher, originally from Austin, Texas, leads the band with his thumbpicking guitar style that has taken him from Carnegie Hall, to an appearance on Conan O’Brien, to Lincoln Center.
In recent years the combo has performed in Maine for the CBS TV show, “Good Morning Portland,” at the Blaine House, the Maine Festival, the Rockland Lobster Festival, New Year’s Portland and the Fryeburg Fair.
Smith reminds everyone that free events are happening throughout the week at Festival Plaza: Tuesdays, free L/A noontime concerts; Wednesdays at 7 p.m., Auburn Community Band; Fridays at 7 p.m., free Festival Friday concerts; and Saturdays at dusk, free outside movies in the park. This Saturday the featured attraction is “Muppet’s Treasure Island.”
