LEWISTON – Descendants of Revolutionary War soldier William Bickford gathered at the Clough Cemetery on June 28 to dedicate a stone to his memory.

Bickford was born in Cape Elizabeth in 1754 and died in 1844, having served as a soldier during the Revolution in what is now Portland and in Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island and New York.

Bickford’s descendants hold a reunion every fall, and this year it will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 21, at the Bowdoin Community Center. All descendants are invited.
