AUBURN – Washburn School officials asked Community Credit Union representatives to speak to the students about the importance of saving money. The credit union and the school have partnered to promote youth financial education efforts, targeting kindergarten through grade three.

Idalyn Furst, credit union member representative, spoke about the credit union’s Monty Moose savings account. Over a three-week period, Furst spoke with 15 students at a time. More than 120 children visited the credit union.

Jan Aliberti, branch manger, said, “The credit union was extremely pleased to be able to work with Barbara Hardison, principal of Washburn School, to make this all happen. Educating our youth at such a young age will start the building blocks to help them better undersigned economics and financial issues.”

The credit union has locations in Lewiston and Auburn.
