BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Hal Gill to a one-year contract.
The agreement comes in advance of a scheduled Aug. 2 arbitration hearing, which will now be canceled. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Gill, 28, was Boston’s eighth pick, 207th overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He turned professional with the Bruins in 1997 following a four-year career at Providence College.
The Concord native played in 76 games for the Bruins last season, scoring four goals and 13 assists with 56 penalty minutes while leading the team with a plus/minus rating of 21.
Gill has played 464 career NHL games, all with Boston, scoring 17 goals and 61 assists and logging 365 penalty minutes.
