Riders from all over the United States and Canada are expected to attend.

NEWRY – European motorcycle enthusiasts will rumble into town this weekend on the heels of departing Harley-Davidson bikers.

The fourth annual Western Maine European Motorcycle Meet runs from Friday through Sunday, July 25-27, at Sunday River Ski Resort.

According to organizer Mike Stackhouse of Mason Township, the event, which attracts motorcyclists from all over the United States and Canada, features organized rides through New Hampshire’s White Mountains and the Mahoosuc Mountain Range.

Organized rides slated for Saturday, July 26, include an Adventure Tour and a Pre-1975 Motorcycle Tour.

The Adventure Tour is for owners of BMW GS bikes, Triumph Tigers, Cagiva Elephants and other bikes of this type. Stackhouse said the ride will be approximately 150 miles long with about 50 percent of it on dirt roads. The tour will depart from the Jordan Grand Hotel between 9 and 9:30 a.m.

The Pre-1975 Motorcycle Tour, which is open to anyone with a vintage bike, covers 100 miles and departs from the Jordan Grand at noon.

“I’m not going to be tough on the years so if you have a bevelhead Ducati that’s newer than ’75 or a new Royal Enfield, you’re more than welcome to join in,” Stackhouse said.

Sunday’s highlight event includes the second annual European and British Motorcycle Show, which benefits Maine Handicap Skiing.

Throughout the meet, there will be a number of dealers set up displaying new motorcycles. These include Street Cycles (Triumph and BMW) from Falmouth, Great Bay Motorcycles (Triumph and Ducati) from Hampton, N.H., Moto Milano (Ducati) from Windham, and Bennet’s Recreational (MuZ’s) from Bangor.

Additionally, Dave Percival of Andover will be showing his world class collection of vintage BMWs in Andover to the public from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday.
