COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – An Ohio State University student, her boyfriend and his roommate were found bound and shot to death in a rented house near campus, and police said they had no suspects or possible motives for the slayings.

Another roommate who had spent Tuesday night at a friend’s house discovered the bodies in an upstairs bedroom when he returned home about noon Wednesday.

Several neighbors reported hearing gunshots late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Witnesses also said they saw two men running from the house after hearing shots.

A window was broken in the back of the gray, vinyl-sided house, but police wouldn’t say if the damage was connected to the crime.

The dead were identified as OSU student Kayla Hurst, 21; her boyfriend, Aaron Grexa, 23; and Eric Hlass, 22.

Friends filed past the house Wednesday, sometimes stopping to cry and hug one another.

Ray Lyons was one of those who said he heard gunshots and saw two men running from the house. He said he had gone outside to smoke a cigarette.

“I barely got it lit, then pop-pop. Then there was a pause. Then pop-pop,” he said.

While he and a second man both said they called authorities, police said they could account for only one call reporting gunshots in the area, and said nothing was found. They said it came at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday and was anonymous.
