AUBURN – Greg Hird knocked in Joey Dumont for the winning run in the last of the seventh to give New Auburn an 8-7 victory over Andy Valley in the opening round of the Zone III tournament.

In the seventh of a tied game, Dumont reached on a double and Dave Roberge advanced him to third.

Rory Flynn knocked in three RBIs and scored twice. Jay Verrill chipped in with three hits.

Ryan Ouelette sparked Andy Valley’s attack with a three-run homer in the first and a solo home run in the third.

Cole Farms 9, Locke Mills 2

LOCKE MILLS – Shane Corcoran blasted a 415-foot three-run homer in the second inning to send Cole Farms to a comfortable 9-2 victory over Locke Mills in the Zone III playoffs Friday.

Corcoron also added an RBI double in the fourth.

After surrendering a two-run home run to Kane Olson in the first inning, winning pitcher Eric Morrison shut down Locke Mills the rest of the way.

Mid Coast 7, Poland 6

BATH – John Tefft scored the game-winning run on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning as top-seeded Mid Coast escaped with a 7-6 win over Poland in the Zone III playoffs.

Anthony Ames’ two run double in the first inning was followed by Mark Rogers’ RBI single.

Poland’s Nick Berube and Tim Dubois each had an RBI single in the first and third innings respectively.
