DIXFIELD – Rather than discuss a letter written by the town manager about an ongoing dispute between the town and Ludden Library, selectmen tabled the matter.
They had been slated to discuss Nanci Allard’s recommendations on several issues concerning funds currently being managed by the trustees.
However, because the board didn’t yet have a chance to read the letter they received, the matter will be taken up at the board’s meeting on Monday, July 28.
But despite tabling the topic, trustees and selectmen discussed merits of some points made by Allard for several minutes until Allard arrived late for the meeting.
A brief discussion ensued with Allard before the matter was again tabled.
Prior to adjournment, after trustees had already left, the board debated the difference between town-owned money and funds given to the library for management by trustees.
In other business, selectmen accepted a $73,962 bid from O’Connell Motors to purchase a 2004 10-wheel plow truck for the Public Works Department.
Selectmen also voted to carry forward $113,188 in road construction funds leftover from last year’s budget to be used for the ongoing Averill Road Reconstruction Project.
Public Works Director David Orr said all of the cross culverts on the Averill Road are now in place.
Town crews will next take the hump out of the road so school buses don’t bottom out when exiting Averill Road onto Route 142. The whole road will also be reditched.
Orr also said the town hired Tim Hanson of Dixfield as a part-time public works laborer and new groundskeeper for Harlow Park.
