HARRISON – The 11th annual Back at Scribner’s Mills event will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2 and 3, at Scribner’s Mills Preservation. The celebration of old-time saw mill technology, lumbering and homestead activities will offer tree felling and log twitching demonstrations, old machinery, tractors and trucks, games for kids including finding pennies in the haystack and ox cart rides by the Brass Knobs 4-H Steer Club. In attendance will be artisans, spinners and weavers and others. At 1 p.m. a tractor pull will be held by the Southern Maine Antique Tractor Association, and a pig roast and baked bean supper will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children and can be purchased in advance at the Village Tie-Up. Barbara Dalgaard will provide pre-dinner entertainment with her comedy skit Second Hand Rose. Admission to Back to the Past is $5 for adults, children ages 13 and under are admitted free. The village of Scribner’s Mills is located on the banks of Crooked River. To reach Scribner’s Mills from Route 35, take Carsley Road to Maple Ridge Road to Scribner’s Mills; from Route 117, take Maple Ridge Road to Scribner’s Mills; from Route 121, take Bolsters Mills Road to Scribner’s Mills. Library dues

NORWAY – Ann Siekman, librarian at Norway Memorial Library reminds Friends of the Norway Library it is time for membership dues. Dues support the library’s audio and video collections, the Books for Babies at Stephens Memorial Hospital, passes to the Portland Museum of Art, newsletters, programs and more. A drawing for the membership raffle will be Friday, Aug. 8. First prize is a Boston Basket that includes round trip train fare to Boston on the Downeaster and a gift certificate for admission to the Museum of Science. Second prize will be a Service Basket that includes hair cuts, tanning, car wash, baked goods, movie passes, manicure, car alignment, and more.
