AUGUSTA – The Maine AIDS Alliance announced Julia McDonald has been hired as executive eirector.

McDonald is an alumna of Colby College and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco, working through the Ministry of Health as a rural health educator before returning to Maine. She comes to Maine AIDS Alliance from Tri-County Health Services, where she worked as a reproductive health specialist in the Auburn and Norway clinics and a counselor with the STD clinic.

McDonald brings more than 10 years of experience in HIV/AIDS activism and community education to the Maine AIDS Alliance.

The Maine AIDS Alliance is a consortium of Maine’s community-based AIDS service organizations, including Prevention Works Harm Reduction Services and St. Mary’s Case Management services in Lewiston. Formed in 1988, the alliance promotes cooperation, community building and resource-sharing among the member organizations.
