1919 – 2003

AUBURN – Lucienne B. Hamel, 84, of 89 Hillside Ave. died Saturday at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in LaPatrie, P.Q., Canada, on May 26, 1919, a daughter of Pierre & Malvina Giard Bernier. She was educated at St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s Parochial schools in Lewiston. She worked at Clark Shoe as a fancy stitcher for 31 years, retiring in 1977.

Hamel was a member of the Auburn Catholic Community at Sacred Heart Parish, Horizon 55 and the Lewiston Senior Citizens. She enjoyed her collection of Angels and was a very loving, warm and outgoing person.

She is survived by her husband Armand Hamel of Auburn whom she married July 29, 1939.

She is survived by a daughter Anita and her husband James Wohlrab Sr. of Auburn; two grandsons, Mike and James John Wohlrab Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Trista and Evan; a sister, Rosia Tardif and husband Armand of Lewiston; three sisters-in-law, Marie Jeanne Bernier and Therese Bernier of Auburn; Yvette Gallant of Lewiston; a brother-in-law, Eugene Stevens of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Ida Mercier, Marieange Bernatchez and Therese Stevens; and five brothers, Delphis, Joseph, Albert, Alphonse and Louis Bernier.
