LISBON – Winners in the Moxie Festival “Chuck-a-Chicken” chicken-throwing contest, sponsored by the Lisbon Merchants Association, are announced.

Taking first in the adult category, landing a chicken in the trailer (a 4 by 8 foot utility trailer placed five feet past the 50-foot line) four times and under it three times, was Tom Pelletier, a resident of Lowell, Mass.

Adult second-place winner was Allyn Stevens. His chicken landed twice in the trailer and twice under it.

First place in the youth category went to 12-year-old Zack Campbell, who broke all records when he landed a chicken five feet beyond the trailer, an “amazing” total of 62 feet. Second place went for the second consecutive year to Jeff Cossar.

The “chickens” are made of hollow lightweight rubber. Prizes were Moxie T-shirts, Moxie mugs and Moxie frisbees.

All proceeds will go toward the fifth annual association-sponsored Oktoberfest at Ridge Plantation on Ridge Road in Lisbon Falls on Oct. 4.
