I was born into a politically active family of Irish-Catholic Democrats in New Jersey. My uncle, grandfather and cousins have been mayors, party chairs and state senators. My grandfather ran for the U.S. Senate on the ticket with F.D.R. As French-Catholic Democrats in Lewiston, my family was hard working, moral and patriotic. The Democratic politicians they elected were initially the same – honest, concerned about working citizens and educated in the school of hard knocks.

Today’s French-Catholics, who may be “born” Democrats, must realize that their party has changed. It represents neither them nor their values. It seems to be run by self-centered baby boomers, brainwashed lawyers, extreme environmentalists, amoral educators, lobbyists and other money-grabbers. They represent themselves. My uncle, while state assemblyman, almost resigned because of the way his party had changed and the widespread dishonesty.

Bill Clinton was the embodiment of the “new” Democrat. I just read a book by a former presidential military aide that describes the two most despicable people ever to inhabit the White House. I include Ms. Clinton because she had much influence on her husband, the Democratic Party and the country. The Clintons, and people like them, are destroying, or have already destroyed, this nation. They have stained the Democratic Party with their self-serving lives.

If we ever see Ms. Clinton, the “new democrat,” as president, this may signal the closing of the final chapter in the history of the United States of America.
