MECHANIC FALLS — The resignation of Superintendent Todd Sanders will be discussed at a special meeting of the Regional School Unit 16 board of directors on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Elm Street school conference room.

The news was announced Thursday in an email, citing two agenda items: “Superintendent Resignation” and “Superintendent Search Committee.”

No other information from RSU 16 was provided.

Sanders took on the job in July 2023 following the retirement of Ken Healey.

Sanders had previously served as superintendent of School Administrative District 58, which includes Avon, Kingfield, Phillips and Strong.

The announcement of Sanders’ impending resignation came shortly after directors proposed a budget of $29.3 million for fiscal year 2025, which will be voted on in a district meeting Tuesday.
