MEXICO – The Mexico High School class of 1953 held its 50-year reunion on July 1. Twenty-three classmates, 12 guests, a teacher and his wife and a class marshal and his wife were present.

The reunion started at the Mexico High School (now known at the Mexico Recreation Center) at 4 p.m. with a tour of Mexico High School.

Arthur Bordeau, vice-president of the class, introduced Bob Brown, chairman of the class reunion committee. Brown said grace before the meal and a moment of silence was held to remember our 22 deceased classmates, a superintendent, a principal and five teachers.

A ham and turkey dinner was served by volunteers of the Mexico Historical Society and a 50th anniversary cake was served to the classmates and guests by the class reunion committee.

A short business meeting was held at 7:45 p.m. Bordeau welcomed Cecil Burns, former math teacher, sports coach and National Honor Society sponsor.

Brown read letters from the classmates unable to attend.

Burns and each class member was presented a booklet and a commemorative black and orange mug with a picture of Mexico High School, 1937-1968.
