OXFORD – Maggie McConkey, 9, of Fryeburg owns the steers that hauled the drag the longest distance of all the kids who participated at the recent Pine Tree Steer and Oxen Show at the Oxford County Fairgrounds.
Maggie, 9, attends Snow School in Fryeburg. She is the daughter of Brett and Stacey McConkey. The steers, Captain and Hook, are 9 months old and weigh more than 1,000 pounds. They pulled 200 pounds of rock on the drag.
The three top winners in each class are announced:
1,000-pound class: first, Ariel McConkey; second, Cory Virgin; third, Maggie McConkey.
1,200-pound class: Ariel McConkey, Danielle Valentini, Kristen Patten.
