1917 – 2003

MINOT – Doris A. Greeley, 86, died Sunday, Aug., 10, in Minot, following a long illness.

Born in Auburn, July 26, 1917, the daughter of Harry C. and Clara Huntley Small, she attended Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1936 and from Bliss Business School in 1938.

She worked as a payroll clerk at Bates Manufacturing until her marriage to Eugene H. Greeley Jr. on June 13, 1947. She was a housewife, raising her two children until her return to Bates in 1960. She retired from Bates in 1982.

“Dot” was a member of the Danville Junction Grange 65 and a member of the High Street Congregational Church, where she was married. She and Gene celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997.

She loved to sew, making all of her children’s clothing when they were growing up and all of her own clothing and some of her husband’s as well. She also sewed for her two grandchildren when they were small.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan J. Greeley of Auburn; a son, Douglass B. Greeley of Auburn; a granddaughter, Monica Greeley of Lewiston; a grandson, Brian Greeley of Auburn; a sister, Elizabeth Rose of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, John Small of Mesa, Ariz.; a special niece, Gail Fickett; and a great-nephew, John Johnson and his wife, Trudy, all of Minot.

She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene in April of 1999; and a brother, Richard W. Small in April of this year.
