BANGOR, Maine (AP) – Two men have been charged in connection with the thefts of more than $30,000 of lobsters from eastern Maine lobster dealers last month.

Stephen Grant, 20, of Machias, was arrested in Otisfield Sunday on theft charges, said Sgt. Jay Carroll of the Maine Marine Patrol. He is being held on $15,000 bail at the Hancock County Jail.

William Tozier, 30, of Windham, was arrested Wednesday and held on a probabation violation charge at Washington County Jail in Machias pending charges for the lobster thefts, Carroll said.

The men are suspected of stealing several thousand pounds of lobsters from four dealers in Stonington, Milbridge and Addison.

An investigation involving the Marine Patrol, Maine State Police, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and the Milbridge Police Department led to the arrests, Carroll said.

“Eventually we discovered the stolen product in the Portland area,” he said. “We traced the product back and conducted a lot of interviews. That’s gotten us to this point.”
