HARTFORD – Descendants of Nellie and Percy Gammon and close friends and relatives are invited for a family reunion Sunday, Aug. 17, at Roger Gammon’s camp on Gurney Hill. There will be a potluck lunches and games.

Conant gathering

CANTON – The decendants of Everett and Lurania Turner Conant will meet for the 111th reunion on Sunday Aug. 17, at the home of Norris and Jackie Conant, 374 Turner St. There will be a potluck lunch at noon. Attendees are asked to bring lawnchairs.

Additon family

LEEDS – The Additon family held its 73rd reunion on Aug. 10 at the home of Errol and Kathy Additon. Those attending are descendants of Thomas and Anna (Beals) Additon, who married in Leeds in 1821.

The oldest persons present were Richard Mansur of Augusta and Harold Meade of Bridgton, both 90. The youngest were Chelsea and Caleb Freda, twin daughter and son of Corey and Jill Additon Freda of Leeds.

Rebecca Hodgkin of Bozeman, Mont., came the greatest distance. Other states represented were Illinois, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Family members reported eight births and four marriages. A resolution was adopted in memory of William Thomas of Falmouth.

Brian Hodgkin of Gorham presided at the business meeting with 84 in attendance. Officers elected for 2004 are Clyde Hodgkin of Yarmouth, president; Brian Hodgkin of Gorham, vice president; Douglas Hodgkin of Lewiston, secretary; and Donald Smith of Wellesley, Mass., treasurer. Members of the Finance Committee are Joseph Bugel of Auburn, Elise Hodgkin of Yarmouth and Ellis Additon of Portland.

After the potluck dinner and the business meeting, Errol Additon conducted an auction. Winner of the raffle for the homemade quilt was Connie Foster of Litchfield. Winner of the 50/50 drawing was Wilma Bradford of Bangor.

Farmer family

TEMPLE – The Farmer family reunion was held at the Temple Town Hall on Aug. 10 with 50 people in attendance. Clinton Savage Jr. led the family in prayer. At the meeting it was decided that Sharon Stevens and Erald Farmer are to check prices for the memorial table plaques. Margaret Farmer will continue the genealogy for the family and requested information from all family groups. The group was invited to return to the home of Mrs. David Farmer for the 2004 gathering. New officers are: president, Margaret Farmer; vice president, Rebecca Higgins; secretary and treasurer, Bonnie and Connie Farmer; child’s entertainment, Vincent Barden.

Kelly and Rick Caron conducted children’s entertainment. Adults enjoyed a search-a-word and trivia provided by descendants of Ellery Farmer, as well as a sing-along of family songs written in 1959 by Hazel and Ruby Farmer conducted by descendants of Thaxter Farmer. Gifts were given to the following: furthest traveler, Margaret Farmer; eldest, Ariene Hiscock; youngest, Joshua Farmer; and host, Mrs. David Farmer.

A drawing of adult grab bags was held and enjoyed by all. Lastly the cotton candy machine went into full spin by Vincent Barden and his daughter Melissa.
