BALTIMORE – Aaron Boone hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning, lifting the New York Yankees to a 6-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.

Boone was 6-for-51 with the Yankees since arriving in a July 31 trade with Cincinnati before connecting off Jorge Julio (0-5). Alfonso Soriano added a solo shot for a 6-3 lead.

Indians 1, Devil Rays 0

CLEVELAND – Josh Bard hit a one-out RBI single in the ninth inning, lifting C.C. Sabathia to his first career shutout as the Cleveland Indians beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 1-0.

Rangers 11, White Sox 5

ARLINGTON, Texas – Colby Lewis struck out a career-high 10 batters and Rafael Palmeiro drove in four runs as the Texas Rangers beat Estaban Loaiza and the Chicago White Sox 11-5 Friday night.

Michael Young homered and drove in three runs as Texas sent Chicago to its third straight loss. Lewis allowed four runs and seven hits in a season-high 7 2-3 innings.

David Delluci, a former Oriole playing in Baltimore for the first time since 1997, hit an RBI double in the fifth to make it 4-3. Roberts led off the Orioles’ half with his fourth homer, the first since June 14.

Notes: The game was a makeup of the July 2 rainout. … Orioles 1B Jeff Conine, who missed a sixth straight game with bursitis in his right biceps, could be sidelined through the weekend, manager Mike Hargrove said. … New York’s Aaron Boone went 0-for-4 with a walk and is 6-for-48 (.125) in 13 games since being acquired in a trade with Cincinnati. … Cruz, who had only seven walks all season, received two from Pettitte.
