Region 9 School of Applied Technology Cooperative Board will discuss borrowing money for the project.
MEXICO – The local vocational school director will seek authorization to begin the paperwork needed to borrow money for the installation of an elevator when the board meets Tuesday.
The monthly Region 9 School of Applied Technology Cooperative Board meets at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room of the River Road school.
Director Deborah Guimont has recently returned from a Department of Education workshop, which focused on a revolving loan fund available for school-building renovations.
She said the paperwork will take many months, necessitating the need to begin immediately.
She estimated the cost of installing an elevator at about $100,000. Once installed, which she hopes will be next summer, the vocational school would become compliant with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.
She said the monthly payment amount would likely be included in the 2004-2005 operating budget.
The board will also act on or learn about several staffing requests or changes, including the resignations of educational technicians for the forestry and truck driving programs, a proposed change in hours for the student services coordinator and a potential modification in the length of the contract for the adult education director.
Also on the agenda is action on the salary agreements for the school’s adult education staff and a report from the Personnel Committee.
