TURNER – SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education and the state of Maine are offering a couple of programs for the fall.
A hunter safety class will begin Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Leavitt Area High School with sessions on Sept. 9, 11, 16 and 18. Students taking the class must be at least 10 years of age and children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. Maine state law requires that anyone who has not held a previous hunting license must take this safety course. This means 12 mandatory hours are required in order to be certified.
The second class will be on ATV safety. This one-day class and will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Adult Learning Complex in Turner Center. The class is open to all ages although participants have to be at least 10 years of age and anyone under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. ATV safety features, land use regulations and Maine law pertaining to ATV use will be covered.
