If Mr. Van Tassel no longer has pride in the Democratic Party, what is his alternative? (Letter, Aug. 11)

Would he be better served by the Bush administration and the Republican party agenda? What is the legacy that this administration will leave behind?

The Clinton legacy is one of prosperity for all, not just the rich. It is a legacy of protecting our environment so that this beautiful country that we live in, can live on. It is a legacy of educating our children, not making up new mandates without providing funding. It is a legacy of fiscal discipline, not out of control tax cuts that our children and their children will pay for in the future. It is a legacy of diplomacy, not arrogance.

I am proud to be a Democrat. I am proud of the job that President Clinton did during his two terms, and if he could serve a third, I would vote for him again in a second. I refuse to let the decisions that he made in his private life erase my pride in my party or my pride in the many positive things that he accomplished for this country.
