I cannot believe that the taxpayers in Auburn are letting the city manager waste their taxes in circumventing our legal system by hiring outside lawyers to investigate the Police Department for doing its job.

If the suspect has a problem with his arrest, then he should do what every other person has to do, hire their own lawyer and go through the legal process. If he can’t afford one, then one would be appointed by the court, not the city manager.

But it shows once again that the politicians of this state are above the law, and taxpayers money will help them out when needed.

Let the district attorney do his job and see if there is enough evidence to charge Mr. Normand Guay with operating under the influence, which could be alcohol or drugs, legal or illegal.

If this was happening in Lewiston, I would hope the people here would be screaming for the mangers head for wasting my tax dollars. I know I would be.

And no matter how the city manager spins it, she’s still wasting money and showing she has no faith in the police that do an excellent job in policing Auburn.

And theirs always the states attorney general’s office. Let our legal system do its job and not independent lawyers paid for by taxpayers.
