PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Barbara A. Merrill, 66, resident of the Stearns Road, Ogunquit, formerly of Bethel, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Carl Merrill who died Oct. 3, 1998.

Mrs. Merrill was born in Bethel, a daughter of Walter and Norma Rolfe Jodrey. She attended Bethel schools and graduated from Gould Academy.

She was a well known business women in Ogunquit and the proprietor of the Norseman Inc. a well known tourist Resort in Ogunquit.

She enjoyed the game of golf and was a member of the York Country Club, The Cape Neddick Golf Club and the Indian River Golf Plantation in Florida. She was a member of the Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association. During the winter months she resided in Stuart, Fla.

She is survived by a son, Scott C. Merrill and his wife Danielle of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Sheckells and her husband Mark of Stuart, Fla., and Mrs. Lorna Wentzell and her husband Mark of Ogunquit; four grandchildren, Jack Merrill, Mollie Doucette and her husband Dan, Hunter Sheckells and Abbie Sheckells; two great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Doucette and Izaiah Doucette; one brother, Arlan Jodrey.
