PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce announces four new appointments to the board of directors.

They are Joe Moore, principal of the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School; Sawin Millett, state representative from Waterford; Dana Chandler, co-owner of Weston-Chandler Funeral Homes; and Judy Sellers, owner of the Bradford House Bed and Breakfast in West Paris; and Doug Van Durme of Bessey Motors.

According to Executive Director John Williams, these four individuals bring a diversity in background and in skill levels that the chamber is always seeking. Williams said it is the chamber’s intention to have a directors that represent all aspects of the eight communities of the Oxford Hills. “Just in these four individuals,” Williams said, “you have connections to education, accommodations, the legislature and a strong link to the business and civic elements of our communities.”

Williams went on to say that these individuals give the chamber an opportunity to develop close ties with, for example, education. The Education Committee, which Joe Moore will chair, will be looking for opportunities to create programs that will benefit companies and employees in the area, along with intern programs through the high school.

Legislative issues, so critical to running business today will have a strong voice in the chamber through Millett, who has a history in service to state government, and who will be chairing the Legislative Committee.

Judy Sellers and Dana Chandler have already started to bring new ideas on how the chamber can better represent its business members and partners in the Oxford Hills, and will be participating in the Marketing and Business Development Committees.

Van Durme will bring important experience in the Automotive Industry to the chamber. This is an industry that is often used as an economic barometer all across the country. He is also a longtime Kiwanian, which will give the chamber a strong civic connection to the communities of the Oxford Hills as well.

Bessey Motors has a strong connection to the Chamber of Commerce with owner Gene Benner having been a former chamber president, and currently the chamber offices are located in the Benner Properties building next to the dealership on Main Street in South Paris.
