WILTON – Western Maine Transportation Services and Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments will host a meeting of municipal officials and stakeholders interested in expanding regional transit services between Auburn-Lewiston and Carrabassett Valley.

The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Seniors Plus dining room at 251 Route 2.

The purposes of the meeting are to present data from three transit-related surveys conducted during the spring and summer of 2003 as the initial phase of the research for the Western Mountain Transit Service, to learn about the Maine Department of Transportation’s plans for transit development in the greater Farmington area and to establish an advisory committee to assist in moving toward completion of this study.

MDOT has been contracted with WMTS and AVCOG to do a feasibility study for expanded transit services.

For more information, please call Glenn Gordon, WMTS, at 784-9335 ext. 202, or Joan Walton, AVCOG, at 783-9186.
