1917 – 2003

LEWISTON – Virginia G. Moore, 86, of Mechanic Falls died Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Elrama, Pa., on March 19, 1917, the daughter of John W. and Jane Bell Sievwright. She graduated from Clairton High School in 1934 and the California University of Pennsylvania in California, Pa., in 1938. She taught third grade in the West Mifflin, Pa., area school district for 25 years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minot, the Order of the Eastern Star, Dwinal Chapter 28 in Mechanic Falls and the Tri-Town Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed needlepoint and sewing. During World War II she worked for the Navy Department. She married Ralph J. Moore on July 26, 1940, he died on April 27, 1992.

She is survived by a son, N. Scott Moore and his wife Hsiu-Lien of Poland; two granddaughters, Jessica Theriault of Poland and Amanda Flanders of Waterford; five great-grandchildren, Morgan Theriault, Mercedes Theriault, Courtney Flanders, Tessa Theriault and Hunter Flanders; a sister, Jane Booth of Pennsylvania; a niece, Nadine Blanchard of Pennsylvania.; and a grandniece, Holly Blanchard of Pennsylvania.
