FARMINGTON – Professor Jay Hoar of Temple will introduce his new book, As Maine as it Gets” to the Farmington Historical Society when the group convenes at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church.

Hoar, a noted teacher, lecturer and author, will focus on the history of motion pictures in small towns in Maine. His knowledge is learned from his father, Joel Sherman Hoar, a descendant of the earliest Europeans to live in Maine’s Rangeley Lakes Region. His father was immersed in the early life of theater and its transition from vaudeville.

The society will host Hoar and invites the public to attend. A potluck dinner begins at 6 followed by a brief meeting and then Hoar’s presentation. Bring a dish to share.
