JAY – Selectmen are expected Tuesday to decide what to do about town-sponsored portable toilets on some town recreation fields used by Area Youth Sports.

So far it has cost the town more than $1,200 to replace two units ruined within the last two years, Town Manager Ruth Marden said.

The town leases the two units for $100 a month from April to August. One of the units is set up at the Stone Street Recreation Field off a road off Route 4 behind the former Jay Family Restaurant and the other is at Dow Field off Route 133.

Last year, a portable toilet was tipped over and a dead dog was discovered inside, Marden said. That company would no longer lease the units to the town.

This summer, a unit was burned. Now that company won’t lease to Jay, Marden said.

There is one company left that rents portable toilets, she said.

Selectmen are going to have to make a decision on what they will tell Area Youth Sports about supplying portable toilets in another year, Marden said.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Building.

Another item on the agenda, Marden said, is resident Dick Moreau requesting a donation to help search for his daughter Kim Moreau who disappeared more than a decade ago.
