1919 – 2003
LEWISTON – Helen M. Hallowell, 83, a resident of Blue Rock Road in Leeds, died Friday, Aug. 29 at CMMC.
She was born in Hebron on Sept. 5, 1919, the daughter of Delmar L. and Alice E. Johnson Foss. She was a 1936 graduate of Buckfield High School. On July 1, 1939, she married Wallace J. Hallowell in Monmouth. He passed away on April 8, 1994.
Helen was a homemaker and also worked at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Winthrop as a kitchen helper for 14 years. She was a member of the Leeds Nazarene Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by four sons, Wallace L. of Leeds, Amasa and his wife, Berneita, of Leeds, Russell D. of North Monmouth and Michael L. and his wife, Alice, of Leeds; a daughter, Alice Mae Wilkins and her husband, Arthur, of Canton; two sisters, Judy Small of Hebron and Shirley Bonney of South Paris; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
