I saw the Sun Journal article concerning car inspections. (Aug. 24)
Car inspections in Maine? Why are you inspecting private autos used by Americans who are using the public right-of-ways for legal uses?
Yes, you can inspect commercial vehicles, but not private ones. This is as foolish as the “emissions” testing of private autos that are not used for commercial transportation.
I can’t even find any data as to how necessary the “emission” test are, or even if they are effective.
Maine should be like Massachusetts and get rid of the inspection of private autos and limit your testing to commercial users of the roads.
