FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Animal Shelter says kittens have been pouring in the past couple of months and more are still coming.

Anyone interested in getting a kitten is welcome to the shelter to look around. There are all kinds of kittens and they vary in shapes, sizes and colors.

Shelter staff says in the past they have seen kittens grow to be adults at the shelter and it is a sad sight when a kitten celebrates a first birthday there.

The adoption fee for kittens is $35 for those two and three months old, and $43 for those that are three to six months. For the younger kittens, the fee includes a feline leukemia/feline AIDS test as well as a feline leukemia vaccine. It also includes a distemper and upper respiratory vaccine. The first deworming of a kitten is also included. The fee also includes a free physical exam for the kitten with a local veterinarian, but not shots. For older cats the fee also includes a rabies vaccine.

New dogs at the shelter include a male shepherd mix found in Jay, a female beagle mix found in Chesterville and a male golden retriever mix found in Industry.
