Books for kids

RUMFORD – The Child Health Center recently awarded Community Concepts Inc. a grant through the Oxford County Preschool Enrichment Trust to assist with a reading project for children of families in Oxford County. Healthy Beginnings home visitor, Mitzi Sequoia, has selected more than 100 infant and toddler books for distribution through her program which includes books for new parents at the birthing units at Stephens Memorial and Rumford Community Hospitals.

“The impact parents have in their child’s development is very important. Having the books available for parents is one more tool for them to use in developing early reading habits and with bonding and communicating with their children,” Sequoia said. For information phone 743-7716 or 364-3721.

To make a monetary contribution toward the Enrichment Trust Fund, phone 743-7035 or write The Child Health Center, 199 Main St., Norway, ME 04268.
