DIXFIELD – A fire prevention sign at Dixfield Fire Co. continues to be targeted by would-be arsonists.

While patrolling Main Street at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, police officer Jeffrey Howe noticed that someone had placed a lit propane torch against the fire station’s fire prevention sign.

Howe quickly extinguished the fire. The propane tank was taken for fingerprint processing.

Last year, someone attempted to burn the sign down but it, too, was quickly spotted and extinguished.
